My Personal Postpartum Transformation

Here's my story!

I’ve always had a passion for fitness. After struggling with infertility for years, and lots of treatments later, I finally got what I always wanted.. I was becoming a mama! I was in the best shape of my life before I became pregnant but I was so excited for this next chapter I didn’t care how much my body changed.

We then found out we were having twins! I was worried I wouldn’t be ‘allowed’ to exercise since I was now high risk. Thankfully that wasn’t the case. I made a promise to myself to remain as active as I could throughout my pregnancy. I kept my promise as best as I could but it was not easy.

My 1st workout at 6 weeks postpartum felt amazing! I couldn’t wait to get back to higher intensity. But then things started to change. Every workout left me feeling worse. I would be down and out for days paralyzed by pelvic floor pain, fatigue and frustration. I thought I just had to keep pushing through and eventually it would get better..

Something had to change so I learned everything I could about my body and what it went through during pregnancy and started taking a step back, rebuilding my foundation instead of forcing workouts and reconnecting my core and breath. Eventually I shortened my workouts and focused more on functional strength movements that could help me in everyday mom life. Eventually I started trusting my body again. I could feel my strength coming back bit by bit and I felt confident to move through my day without pain.

So instead of feeling completely disconnected from my body especially my core, now I’ve never felt so confident in my body. It wasn’t luck. It was a structured rebuild. I can do higher intensity exercises without fear. Without pain. Rather, feeling empowered. No more pushing through workouts. No more pelvic floor pain. No more working out for hours on end.

You can get there too! With the right approach.
